This rating could be worse, but you can eat there. The service was terrible. Not sure if it was because we were not 'regulars' but that is no excuse. I had to flag the waitress several times for a coffee refill. It took several requests for a glass of water. The food tasted and looked like there was not a can of something or a frozen bag of something they would turn away. I even question the eggs. Of all things, the eggs? The Corned-beef Hash was more potato than corned beef and the syrup was some generic low dollar thick liquid. I am here in New England for gods sake, can you not get maple syrup? And all of this wondrous stuff for way too much money. This place is a good two miles from Allies Donuts, so go eat the donut.

I normally stop here when I'm in the area and just have a muffin and coffee but this day I ordered ham with eggs over medium with coffee. The plate comes out with this tiny little piece of ham cut in two pieces and a few homefries and two eggs outside of the tiny ham it looks ok. I put the first bite of egg in my mouth and all I hear is a BIG crunch, so I take a chance and second bite same thing. I pick up the other egg to check and there is a big piece of shell sticking out in plain site. You can't tell me the cook could not see it... The waitress brings my check which was $8change, not a lot but a lot for what I got. I mention to the waitress about the shells and all she says is "yeah".... Not for nothing but if she was at least nice about it, it would have been different. Offer to make new eggs or anything but no I got a big "yeah. She took my money and I walked out.... never to return again.

Since moving to EG we've scoped this place out a few times. It's a classic RI diner, great staff, family friendly, old school flare. The meals are reasonable and portions good. I personally love their homemade hash.

We stopped in with the kids for lunch at 1:25 not knowing they closed at 1:30. We were greeted warmly and told to sit down. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating even though she would probably be stuck there for another half hour. We were all in the mood for lunch...cheeseburgers, soggies, and grilled cheese for the kids, which they all finished...no easy feat for three picky eaters. I had the hot wieners. The best I've had. Thanks again for keeping the kitchen open for us. We will definitely be back...a little earlier next time.

The Beacon Diner is the type of place that I didn't really believe existed outside of the movies. Waitresses call you 'love,' or 'sweetheart' and seem to genuinely enjoy serving you and are chuffed when you ask to try some of the homemade jam (though i havent personally tried it but the mafioso looking dude loved it). I'd never really been to a diner before so was quite surprised to find out that I am a diner fanatic. Eggs taste best cooked on a griddle, and home fries? I obviously grew up in a house, not a home, because these are amazing.

Beacon diner is as old school as it gets, a small diner with a lighthouse on its roof with ample parking on the East Greenwich/North Kingstown line. Food and service are ok, but feeling like you're taking a trip back in time still makes the visit worthwhile. I'm a fan of the silver dollar pancakes! Dirt cheap prices to boot! Fun fact: beacon diner was where the diner scene from the movie "27 dresses" was filmed!

Good breakfast, nothing out of this world went on a Saturday morning. It was very busy so we could understand the food was coming out a little slow. Waitress was young and under experienced. Let's say she isn't going to make it in that industry.

I am a diner afficionado from way back. But I am also a food snob (or so I've been told) It is definitely possible to be both - many, many of the diners I've dined in have had absolutely superb food. Sadly, Beacon Diner is not one of them. I've driven by this place on numerous occasions, on the way to the beach, but have never had occasion to stop until my cousin suggested it as a place for Sunday breakfast/brunch where we were meeting a friend from Narragansett - given that this might be deemed almost halfway. Beacon Diner, first off, did not appear to be super clean to me - I think it would benefit from a deep cleaning. Second, the menu, while inexpensive and extensive, turned out not to represent really good food (in my humble opinion). The coffee was abominable. I like strong coffee and this tasted like dishwater. In fact, after adding cream and a little sugar, it tasted like white dishwater. I was not able to drink it. The hash browns that accompanied my eggs and bacon had an odd taste, which translated to me to having an odd smell. It might have been what they cooked the potatoes in - perhaps an unfamiliar (to me) frying fat. I didn't eat the potatoes after one bite. The bacon was so crisp, it was bordering on burnt, and although I love bacon, I could only describe this as being unpleasant. The eggs were GOOD!! :-) I asked for a toasted English Muffin, well done. I got a grilled English Muffin and I don't like mine grilled. So, not much more to say. My cousin and our friend liked their breakfasts fine. And they like their coffee weak, so was not a problem for them. This is only my review, it does not represent theirs. I would not go back to Beacon, but I'm fairly certain it has a lot of fans, it's conveniently located (for some), has ample parking. But just not my cup of tea (or coffee, obviously) either.

Pros: Fairly cheap Great servers Cons: Looks dirty Burnt toast...! Should have been thrown away, black. Very Small pancakes Over easy eggs over cooked... Potatoes most likely frozen. Bacon fatty. Too many great options nearby, avoid.

I love this place so much that I'm willing to make a pilgrimage from Providence on the weekends for their awesomeness. Love the atmosphere. Love the food. Love the people who work there.

Food was probably about a 7/10. The waitress only came over to the table twice. Once to get our order and once to get our check. Other than that she sat behind the counter with another waitress and watched dog videos on YouTube. Decent food, bad service. However I'm giving it two stars for a fair amount of food for your money.

I really enjoy the mom-and-pop feel of this diner. The servers are very friendly and the breakfast menu is full of variety. I have only eaten here for breakfast and not sure if they server lunch/dinner. If you are a fan of corn beef hash, you need to try the has at this diner...yum! Beacon Diner is very affordable and the food is tasty. I'm a fan!

Perfectly adequate for breakfast. Not banging, but not crud either. It's a diner for god's sake, deal with it. Yes, it is clean. The service is just fine. In fact our waitress today was bubbly and super-pleasant. Portion sizes are acceptable. They have homemade muffins and make their "own" baked beans (I think they doctor up a can of B&M Baked Beans myself). The hash was very good today. I think that the homefries are probably from a bag, but okay. Is it my FIRST choice for breakfast? Hell no. But it is convenient, beign towards my office and on holidays like Columbus Day when I come in for a few hours, I often stop here for a bite to eat. It is old and outdated but again, clean, decent prices and a place to take care of that early morning hunger.

Fun place if you're interested in old diners. Not that clean, old beat up booths, and old juke boxes at some booths. Food is ok. I got the chili omelette which I'm sure I will regret later. Food served on old plates with old forks. Friend got something that came in a mixing bowl. Staff is great. Very nice and friendly. They seem to enjoy working there. Worth a stop if you're in the area, headed to the breaches maybe.

Good old fashion diner. I felt like an outsider because it seemed like everyone knew everyone else including the staff...but that feeling only lasted until our friendly server came over and made us feel welcome and comfortable. We had hash and eggs and an apple pancake with a side of hash browns (I love carbs!) My boyfriend was impressed with his hash, and I loved my meal as well. The apples didn't taste like that super sweet pie filling stuff other places used, but I can't be 100% sure they were fresh apples. Loved the hash browns but the potato was shredded so small it as difficult to get on the cheap fork they give you. The food was your classic diner fare and was done very well. Prices were great too! Random note: they use a generic soda not Coke or Pepsi. I thought my Diet Coke was mixed wrong until we looked at the machine and realized it wasn't Diet Coke. Not bad, just different. Pros: Food, service, relaxed atmosphere, prices. Cons: Cheap flatware, generic soda.

A friend and I stopped in for lunch. After perusing the menu, the waitress came to the table to take our order. She was friendly and didn't rush us even though it was getting close to their closing time. My friend tried to order the beef stew but was informed they were out. So he settled for the eggs, and hash combo plate that the waitress assured him was excellent. I ordered the meatloaf meal, from a listing they had on the window. The waitress double checked that I didn't want the sandwich. No, the meatloaf. Within a few minutes our food arrived. The egg combo plate looked fine. My meatloaf consisted of two slices of 3/8 inch thick, dry looking meatloaf, with a bag of chips thrown on top. Before the waitress could drop the food and leave I pointed at the meatloaf menu listing on the window and said I had wanted to the meatloaf meal with mashed potatoes, gravy and veggie. She apologized and said the fryer wasn't working.?. What? The meatloaf turned out to be just as dry as it looked, and I paid full price for it. My friend was disappointed with the hash, not very good and probably from a can. To add insult to injury, as we were leaving the waitress asked one of the other customers what they were having as she was writing out their check. He told her he was having the beef stew. The other waitress pointed out to her that there was an entire pot of beef stew on the stove in the kitchen. The experience was so pathetic I wish I could give them no stars! There are plenty of fine diners and restaurants in the area and any of them can be reached within minutes.
